If you've been researching penile filler for a while, you've probably discovered there are plenty of clinics offering it.

Choosing between them isn't always straightforward.

Price, treatment volumes and before-and-after photographs can be useful information, but they don't tell you everything you need to know about the medical care you'll receive.

Penile filler is a medical procedure. Before deciding where to have treatment, you should feel comfortable asking questions about the person treating you, the product being used, the risks involved and what happens after you leave the clinic.

Here are ten questions worth asking.

1. Who will actually carry out my treatment?

Start with the person who will be treating you.

Find out who they are, their professional background and how much experience they have carrying out this particular procedure.

At Alpha Male Clinic, consultations and treatments are led by Dr Mustafa Ganijee, who has more than 14 years of medical experience.

You shouldn't feel uncomfortable asking a clinic about the experience of the person carrying out your procedure. It's your body, and you're entitled to know.

2. What medical qualifications and experience do they have?

Experience with injectable treatments is important, but penile filler requires an understanding of the anatomy being treated and the potential complications involved.

Ask about your practitioner's medical qualifications as well as their experience with penile filler specifically.

You should also consider what medical support would be available if something didn't go according to plan.

3. What filler will be used (and why)?

Not every filler is the same.

Rather than simply being told the brand or amount you'll receive, ask why a particular filler has been recommended for you.

At Alpha Male Clinic, we use hyaluronic acid-based fillers and offer different options depending on the individual treatment plan.

The product chosen should form part of a wider clinical decision based on your anatomy, goals and suitability for treatment.

4. How do you decide how much filler I need?

More isn't automatically better. It can be tempting to compare clinics based on how many millilitres of filler are included in a package, particularly when you're trying to understand the potential difference in results.

But the appropriate amount should be determined by your individual anatomy and what you're realistically hoping to achieve.

A consultation should establish this before treatment rather than starting with the assumption that the greatest possible volume is the best option.

5. What are the risks?

No medical procedure is completely risk-free, and penile filler is no exception.

A reputable clinic should be willing to explain potential side effects and complications clearly, without either exaggerating them or brushing them aside.

You should leave your consultation understanding what can happen, what signs you need to look out for during recovery and what the clinic would do if you experienced a problem.

If the risks aren't discussed with you, ask why.

6. What happens if I'm not suitable for treatment?

A consultation shouldn't be a foregone conclusion that ends with you having filler.

There are circumstances where a practitioner may decide treatment isn't appropriate or that it isn't likely to achieve what you're hoping for.

At Alpha Male Clinic, our role is to assess you individually and give you an honest medical opinion.

Sometimes that means recommending a different approach. Sometimes it means advising against treatment altogether.

Being prepared to say no is part of responsible medical care.

Not sure whether this applies to you?

The self-assessment takes about a minute and is reviewed by a doctor before your consultation.

Take the assessment

7. What results can I realistically expect?

Before-and-after photographs can give you an idea of what's possible, but somebody else's result isn't a guarantee of your own.

Your starting anatomy, the volume and type of filler used and your individual response to treatment can all influence the outcome.

Ask what the practitioner believes is realistically achievable for you.

A good consultation should help set expectations rather than simply sell you an ideal result.

8. What aftercare will I receive?

Your care shouldn't finish when the procedure does.

Ask what aftercare you'll receive, who you can contact if you're worried and whether the clinic provides follow-up support.

You should also understand what's expected of you during recovery, including any temporary restrictions and the symptoms you should look out for.

At Alpha Male Clinic, aftercare is part of the treatment process. You'll receive guidance following your procedure and have access to our medical team if you have a concern.

9. What happens if something goes wrong?

This might feel like an uncomfortable question, but it's an important one.

Ask what would happen if you experienced a complication after leaving the clinic.

Who would assess you? How quickly could you speak to somebody? Would you have access to an appropriately qualified medical professional?

You may never need that support, but knowing it's there should be part of your decision when comparing providers.

10. Can the filler be corrected or dissolved?

Before having treatment, it's worth understanding your options if the result doesn't settle as expected or a medical issue requires intervention.

Hyaluronic acid filler can be dissolved where clinically appropriate, but this should itself be treated as a medical decision.

Ask the clinic how it manages corrections, follow-up appointments and dissolving treatment before you proceed.

Knowing the answer before treatment is much better than trying to find it when you're already worried.

Don't choose a clinic on price alone

Dr Mustafa Ganijee, Founder of Alpha Male Clinic, said:

When you're comparing clinics, it's understandable that you'll look at things like price, filler volumes and before-and-after photographs. But I'd encourage men to look beyond those things as well.

Ask who is treating you, why they've recommended a particular approach and what happens if you need medical support afterwards. You should also feel that you can ask difficult questions without being rushed into making a decision.

A good consultation isn't about convincing somebody to have treatment. It's about giving them enough information to decide whether it's right for them.

Take your time before deciding

You don't need to choose a penile filler clinic after one evening of research.

Compare providers. Look at their medical credentials. Read about the treatment. Ask questions. And pay attention to how openly those questions are answered.

Most importantly, don't feel pressured into proceeding simply because you've attended a consultation.

You should feel informed and comfortable with your decision before any treatment takes place.
